Our project, titled “The Tunnels”, aims to demystify the network of tunnels that runs beneath Carleton’s campus. By conducting interviews and scouring historical records, we’ve consolidated what we believe to be all available information on their history and have presented our findings on this website. Our project consists of three parts: First, a timeline that documents important events in the tunnel’s history, including pictures of the tunnels and links to articles and other documents when relevant. Second, an annotated map which attempts to reconstruct where the tunnels go and provide some additional information about their usage. Third, a gallery containing current and historical images of the tunnels (some of which have never before been published!). Please check it out!
