How easy/hard was it?

It was fun, but hard at parts. There are many ways I could improve the process if I were to do it again. For instance, I learned not to put a roof or walls over the floorplan before finalizing the details inside. Once I had the walls and roofs up, I had to tear them down multiple times to manipulate anything inside.

What compromises did you have to make?

As much as I loved the expand-out-tool, it left behind it a bunch of hollows, which was not the easiest to fix.

Humanistic use cases?

You can model the tomb of an Egyptian mummy, and let the archaeologists explore the space freely through VR, without having to take care of the logistics of making the travel, wearing the heavy gears, and being careful not to destroy the real artifacts. This could be an exhibition.

Pro tip!

Put those walls up AFTER you finish the inside of the building! You do not want to get lost in a wall of whites when you will, inevitably, screw up your trackpad maneuver.

  1. I love all the details of your model! You model all the interior design of the house and add all the furniture, that is amazing!

  2. This is so cool! I was wondering how people who live(d) in apartments might go about this assignment. I love the cross-cut view of your apartment, as well as all the furnishings!

    • What’s not obvious is those cross-cuts are actually remnants of me breaking through the walls so I could get inside hehe.
